From the third floor of the Great we can see the large size

and scale of the Pedal ranks, which are located here.

 

diaphone.jpg (8083 bytes) Here you can see the tops of the 16 foot Diaphone. The back row stands on the floor of the Great, and the front row stands on the supports for the second level of the Great. These pipes are made out of 2 inch pine, and play on 25 inches of wind.

Here are a couple shots of the 32 foot Violone, which is on 15 inch pressure.

The Great chamber was 28 feet tall to the celling.

In the upper left corner of this view is the end of the Airplane effect. The arrangement to the right is the Glass Crash.

Here you can see the Gong, with its "roll" strikers in place, the main striker has been removed to be releathered. To the right is the Crash Cymble. (It's hard to see the cymble as we are looking at the edge.)
